The Georgia Thrives Together Playbook, Volume 1, focuses on three interconnected Vital Conditions for Health and Well-Being that influence whether people and communities across Georgia can thrives. The definitions below reflect how each focus area was understood and described through the Special Interest Group process.

Basic Needs for Health and Safety
Basic Needs for Health and Safety are the conditions that allow people in Georgia to survive, stabilize, and thrive, including access to food, water, safe environments, and preventive and responsive health care. This Vital Condition recognizes the interconnected roles of health care access, safety, and upstream conditions in shaping health outcomes and emphasizes early identification of risk, coordinated care, and community-informed supports.

It is designed to be widely accessible to all Georgians, with low barriers to entry that support autonomy. It offers safety, adequate space (for its occupants), and stability, and is located in areas that foster community connection and proximity to work, schools, food, health care, other essential services, nature and recreational outlets.

Event Highlights from “Step Into the Playbook: An Interactive Preview of Action Across Georgia”
During the Georgia Thrives Together Community of Practice Annual In-Person Meeting in July 2026, Special Interest Group members and Action Champions welcomed attendees to “Step Into the Playbook: An Interactive Preview of Action Across Georgia.” The event gave attendees their first opportunity to explore actions developed through the Special Interest Group process for the Georgia Thrives Together Playbook.
With support from the Action Champions, participants engaged with the Action Boards and Action One-Pagers across Basic Needs for Health and Safety, Belonging and Civic Muscle, and Humane Housing. The experience invited them to consider where their experience, influence, skills, or resources could contribute and identify opportunities to help move the work forward.
The Preview Event offered an opportunity to engage with emerging Playbook content before the release of the full Georgia Thrives Together Playbook, Volume 1. The photos below capture participants exploring the materials and connecting around opportunities for action across Georgia.
